About our New Bedford concrete company
We're a New Bedford concrete contractor who puts the work into the base, the drainage and the mix, and explains each step before we pour.
How I came to concrete in New Bedford
I spent years at a desk job before I traded it for work I could step back and look at when the day was done. I learned concrete working alongside experienced crews around New Bedford, and in 2020 I started Form & Finish New Bedford Concrete. Most of our calls come from homeowners, along with landlords and small business owners who need a lot or a walk built.
What I care about most is the part nobody sees once the concrete is down. The ground the slab sits on, what we call the subgrade, has to be dug out and packed rather than raked level, or the slab settles with the dirt. Drainage and what's in the truck matter just as much, because together they decide whether a slab stays flat and sound for years.
That's why, when a budget gets tight, I'll steer you toward trimming the finish before the base. The base is hidden on day one, so it's the easiest thing to cut, but a nice surface on a soft base usually doesn't last. I'd rather explain too much than leave you guessing, and I'm happy to stay on the phone for the second and third question.
- A base dug out and packed
- Water sent away from your house
- One person from estimate to pour
- Every step explained in plain words
What working with our concrete crew is like
We treat your yard and your week like they matter, because they do. That means a clear plan before we dig, a tidy site while we work and straight answers when you call.
The same face throughout
I look at your job and write the estimate myself, and I'm on site running our own crew the day it's poured.
Estimates you can compare
Our estimates spell out the base work, the mix and what's included, so you can lay them next to other quotes line by line.
Paperwork sorted early
Before anyone digs, we work out which offices your job goes through and file what we're able to, so nothing catches you off guard.
Pours timed to the weather
We plan each pour around the weather and the cure, the wait while concrete hardens, not around fitting in another job.
Joints cut on time
We cut control joints, the shallow grooves that give a slab a planned place to crack, on time so cracks usually follow them.
Licensed, insured and guaranteed
We're licensed and insured, and every job we do carries the same promise, satisfaction guaranteed.
How we run a concrete job
Every job starts with me on your property and ends with a clean site, and in between we plan the work so you know what's coming next.
First visit
Call or send the form, we reply within one business day, and I come out to see the job and where water runs.
Plan and estimate
The estimate is free with no pressure to book, and I flag early anything on the permit side that needs your signature.
Base preparation
We dig out the soft ground and pack the base, then set forms so the finished slab sheds water away from the house.
The pour
Rebar, steel that ties the slab together, goes in where needed. Then we pour and broom the top so it isn't slick when wet.
Cure and clean-up
We clean up before we leave and tell you when the slab is ready for feet and when it's ready for your car.
